Frequently Asked Questions
How can I start working with you?
Getting started is simple! Just reach out to schedule your initial consultation. You can contact me via phone, email, or through the booking form on my website. During your first session, we’ll discuss your health history, goals, and any specific concerns you’d like to address. Based on that, I’ll create a personalized treatment plan to help you on your wellness journey. I look forward to working with you and supporting your path to better health!
What should I prepare for my initial consultation?
For your initial consultation, it’s helpful to come with a list of any current health concerns, medications, and supplements you’re taking. Feel free to write down any questions or goals you have for your treatment, as this will help guide our discussion. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, as I may need access to areas of your body for acupuncture or other treatments. If you’ve had previous treatments, it’s useful to bring any relevant medical records or notes. The more information you can share, the better I can tailor your treatment to your specific needs!
How should I prepare for my first treatment?
To get the most out of your first treatment, try to come well-hydrated and avoid stimulants, including caffeine, right before your session. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, as I may need access to areas like your arms, legs, or back for acupuncture. If possible, avoid alcohol or intense exercise on the day of your treatment to help your body respond better. Please bring a list of any supplements and pharmaceutical medications you're currently taking, as this will help me tailor your treatment. Feel free to bring any questions or concerns you may have, as I’ll take time to review your health history and goals with you.

Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture is generally a painless treatment. Most people feel a brief sensation when the needles are inserted, often described as a light pinch or tingling. Once the needles are in place, you may feel a dull, heavy, or warm sensation, which is a sign that the body is responding to the treatment. The needles used are very thin, much smaller than needles used for injections, and are designed to be minimally invasive. If you experience any discomfort, please let me know, and I will make adjustments to ensure your comfort.
Can acupuncture be combined with other treatments?
Yes, acupuncture, gua sha, moxibustion, and fire cupping are often used in combination with each other in a treatment, depending on the treatment goals and the client's comfort level, as well as the time available during the session. These therapies complement one another and can enhance the overall results of your treatment. Each session is personalized to ensure the combination of techniques is effective and appropriate for your needs. If you have a preference for any particular therapy, feel free to discuss it with me!
Do you offer any holistic nutritional consultations?
Yes, I offer holistic nutritional consultations, drawing on my 10 years of experience as a Holistic Nutritionist. These sessions focus on creating a personalized nutrition plan that supports your overall health goals. I provide guidance on food choices, natural supplements, and herbal recommendations, incorporating principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and dietary therapy to bring balance to your body and support your well-being.

We work completely at your own pace, and we’ll agree upon what feels realistic for you in making any changes, whether it's related to food preferences, purchasing supplements, or implementing new habits. Your journey to better health is personalized to suit your lifestyle and goals.
Are you covered by insurance?
Yes, I am a registered acupuncturist (R.Ac) and a member of the ATCMANS acupuncture association. As a result, my acupuncture services are often covered by extended health insurance plans. However, please note that I do not offer direct billing. I can provide receipts that include all the necessary information for you to submit insurance claims.
Unfortunately, Holistic Nutritional Consultations are not currently covered by insurance, as insurance companies do not offer coverage for these services. If you'd like to see nutritional consultations covered, you can reach out to your insurance provider to inquire about potential coverage or even advocate for its inclusion in future plans. Some companies may offer a process for feedback or voting on adding new services to their coverage options. You can typically find more information by visiting your provider’s website or contacting their customer service for guidance on how to submit a request or vote for changes.
What are the benefits of fire cupping and gua sha?
Both fire cupping and gua sha are powerful techniques in Traditional Chinese Medicine that offer various health benefits. Fire cupping helps increase circulation, release muscle tension, and promote relaxation by lifting the fascia and allowing blood to flow more freely. It's also effective for boosting immunity, relieving respiratory issues, and alleviating stress. Gua sha involves using a smooth tool to scrape the skin, which can help improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote healing by releasing tension in the muscles and fascia. Both therapies are known to provide lasting relief and enhance overall well-being.
What is cosmetic acupuncture and how does it work?
Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural alternative to Botox that focuses on rejuvenating the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. By using ultra-thin needles, acupuncture helps to stimulate collagen production, improve circulation, and promote overall skin health. This treatment not only targets the skin but also addresses underlying imbalances in the body that may contribute to aging signs, such as stress or poor digestion.
Cosmetic acupuncture is a holistic approach that revitalizes the skin for a more youthful, radiant complexion, without the side effects of invasive procedures. The treatment is gentle, and many clients report feeling more relaxed and balanced after each session, while also noticing improved skin tone and texture over time.
